Almost three months ago, May popped in my inbox writing to me about her relationship with Dan and how they were hoping to plan an engagement shoot with me sometime in 2018. Both May and Dan reside in London, so we were trying to find a place that could work well for both of us. It was around that time that I had just booked a ticket to Iceland, and when I brought it up we both agreed that Iceland would be just the ticket!
Upon meeting these two, I knew right away we were going to be fast friends. We took off from Reykjavik and headed towards our first stop, Skógafoss which is roughly a three hour drive. The route we took was mind blowing, and I quickly realized why so many photographers talk about Iceland like it’s a photographers paradise. We completely lucked out when we arrived at Skógafoss because there were hardly any tourists. As we roamed the waterfall, it was so great to get to learn more about these two and watch how intimately they interacted with one another.
Once the tour buses started to arrive, we departed to our next location Reynisfjara. To be honest, I think we all could have stayed another few hours in Reynisfjara, just taking in the beauty of the moment. May explained that the waves at this particular beach hit the shore with force, and many people get swept out to sea. We took caution as we shot on the sand, pillars, and caves…while we noticed that many tourists, well, didn’t take that same precaution.
May and Dan, I just wanted to thank you both for making my Iceland dream come true. I truly had such a fantastic time getting to know you both and photographing this special moment in your love story. I truly hope that there are many more adventurous weekends like this in your future! Thank you again for such a wonderful day, one I will never forget.
